In the spirit of school, I’ve spruced it up and bought myself some fun school supplies sure to make studying fun and stylish. Since I’m also a writer and hand letterer, I really do like to write on fun/pretty things. I thought I’d do a round-up of few of the items I’ll be using while taking my MBA classes and studying late nights. I might even just letter with some of these pens while in class……no! Stay focused Chiara, stay focused.
Oh yes, that’s right. You heard right. I will be going back to school in just a couple of weeks! The last time I walked across that stage was 7 years ago. So much is going inside my mind right now…..a lot.
On August 29, I will be heading to Texas Woman’s University (local for me) to get my Executive MBA. It’s been 7 years since I’ve been in a classroom….let alone open a textbook to study. I’m about freaking out right now….maybe a bit more nervous. Scared. Fearful. Excited. All these emotions rolled into one. In the spirit of back to school, I decided to jot down my thoughts. Censored and uncensored.
For the next 2-3 years, BRING IT ON.
Now read more and please, comment your advice. I will need it.
Ok now, brace yourself for cuteness overload. For a warning, no….I am not preggo!
Anyways, I can’t wait to show you this awesome photo shoot. I’m not a professional photographer by any means but with the help of Dallas’ Megan Weaver and her blog photography tips, I think we succeeded here.
My best friend, Dette, and her daughter, Geralyn (aka Ger Bear), came back home to Dallas for a good month. Dette’s been living in San Antonio with her hubby, Mark, and daughter, Geralyn, while he finishes off P.A. school so I was so happy to have spent time with her. One of the greatest news to bring home was the gender of their second one! When you can collide the worlds of lettering, style, new life, and your hometown city as the perfect scene, beautiful things happen. You take those chances and seize the moment.
She had asked me to take some photos and make a sign so of course, we set out for the shoot!
Judging from the first photo shown, you know it’s going to be a…… that’s right you guessed it. Click for more and see how we captured this perfect and special moment right in front of Dallas’ Deep Ellum backdrops.
Lettering done by yours truly!
I’m so happy to celebrate 2 years of happy blogging and soul-searching on ChiaraMarie.com this month. Woohoo.
What a freakin’ wonderful milestone. I took the time to patiently perfect this personal web space and you know what? It’s still growing. Still being molded and refined as it should. Maybe perfection isn’t something to focus on here, but for this it is. Thank you perfect Father.
Speaking to such a relative moment, a certain thought has been on my mind for the season. This reoccurring theme might be something you may be going through too. We live to snap our fingers in everything we do. Just like that, we can obtain things instantaneously, on the fly. We run so fast on our own clock we forget to not even watch the little, second hand pass by.
It’s simply this: the good…well the best things in life, take time and importantly, are always on time.
We often miss out on our most greatest moments where treading water just to stay afloat is forgotten because we are simply too focused trying to get to shore. The moments of breathing just to live pass us by. But it’s in those timeless moments, it’s those breaths of life that are vital.
Deeply in love with this dress right here in Deep Ellum.
Happy 4th of July weekend friends. Today I’m posting an #ootd in front of the red, white, and blue.
If I could frolic around the city of Dallas in all my outfits, it would be in the iconic Deep Ellum area. For all you first-timers to the great city of Dallas…especially if you are an admirer of art walls, murals, concert venues, hip bars and shops, and other places of the sort-of-un-norm, head over to Deep Ellum with your best camera and be ready to take shots of the great city at your feet.
Read on to the end to get my full outfit details. Oh, we had so much fun. So much fun.
My lettering adventure continues and it’s been an awesome year so far. I’ve developed and really grown my lettering hobby into now a small, budding side business. I’ll continue to capture my lettering adventures for you right here. In April, I was happy to have partnered up with Alicia Aguilar from Charming Events Company on the event design and coordination for the Greenberg Traurig (GT) Open House event. She does some beautiful florals as well. If you remembered, I had met her at a previous event where our work was featured for Rhonda’s Dallas Blogger Brunch.
GT is an international law firm with 37 offices worldwide, which of those, includes an office in Downtown Dallas in the Chase Tower at the 52nd Floor. I hand lettered all of the food items on geode coasters (from Anthropologie). The details for this event came together so perfectly. Check out the photos below (courtesy of Brenden Williams Photography). Full credits are at the end of all those that provided their talents to the event.
Former New York City Mayor, Rudy Giuliani, serves as an executive for GT Law. He was also present at the GT Dallas event! 😉
I was so inspired and creative right after I came back from my vacation and now…I’m not going to lie, I am starting to lose it. I can’t seem to get a creative spark in me. Hah!
Sometimes we get writer’s block, unmotivated to work on an art piece, do homework, stuck on trying to find a new paint color for your bedroom…the list goes on. It’s like all the creative juices and inspiration have run empty. I thought I’d whoop up this nifty list of some ways to boost your creative mind. Some of these maybe new and some maybe a reminder, but whatever it is, it will boost something for you! I hope it will poke you to get you to move and get that creative mind flowing.
Get to hustling and if you see any confetti while you’re at it….blow it around! Now that will spark something.
I don’t know about you but it’s been awhile since I’ve taken a long and needed vacation. I can’t tell you how much I needed it. I really needed to get away from home and reset and refresh my soul and spirit. So much has been going on….great and not so great, I find it is much needed to go to a place where everything is not your everyday norm. I am fortunate enough to have my big brother, Vinson, living in Europe, better yet, in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Vienna, Austria. Do me a favor and google Vienna. Your eyes might just widen with joy and your jaw might just drop from awe. It’s really that beautiful of a city. When I was there, of course me being a blogger I had to get my snapshots in. Here’s one of my many outfits I sported around these European streets. Hello gorgeous, narrow streets and cobblestone paths. Read More
I’m blogging here from Vienna, Austria and off from work for 2.5 weeks! WOW. This is seriously one of the best breaks I’ve had in a long time. I’ve been able to think about a lot of things that I have been easily pushing to the side…or simply just can’t bring time to think about. Getting on the plane and coming across an ocean is one of those life adventures I look forward too. It can be exhilarating, scary, fun, anxious….all these emotions all rolled into one.
Life is different for all so not all can get on a plane, drive and travel away. Even then, all things are possible if you believe in it. Half a day trip…to even 2 week trips, heck, all traveling counts. When you’re up for exploring that counts. I’ve come to Vienna by myself and traveling alone has made it a different perspective.
Here are my reasons on why you should travel at least once in your life (or more!).
I’ve been thinking long and hard on this one. What does it mean to brand? Branding is a way to make your mark, to make your footprint known, to make your voice heard. When you do that, how does it last for you and also for others? Since I’m getting older, hopefully wiser, and growing professionally, I have to constantly always check myself on what I’m doing, what I represent, how I’m presenting, what I’m wearing etc. From 9-5, I’m grinding long hours in the corporate world, but when I’m not doing that, I’m marketing myself and my lettering/design business. Sometimes I’m all over the place always thinking…am I off or on? The key is to be yourself so you can always be on. Never off.
I’ve rounded up my thoughts on ways to brand yourself – helpful tips that’s for the workplace, your small business, your blog and so on. Use these tips while letting your light shine through. Most important….be yourself.
